Start with the problem, not a specification

You do not need to know whether you need a fractional CTO, a new system or an automation project.

Tell us what is happening inside the business:

  • A process is too slow.
  • Output is not increasing with demand.
  • A team is overloaded.
  • A customer or supplier relationship is under pressure.
  • Information is spread across too many places.
  • A technology decision is being delayed.
  • An opportunity is being missed because nobody has time to pursue it.

The first conversation is about understanding the situation and deciding which Curavest service, if any, can help.

Frequently asked questions

What services does Curavest offer?

Curavest offers several complementary services for UK operational businesses. Our best-known service is Curavest – Fractional CTO Services, which provides part-time, embedded technology and process leadership for owners, MDs and boards. Curavest is also developing additional services focused on operational improvement and practical use of technology and AI, and builds Sysgraft, an AI-integration product for wholesale and distribution businesses.

What is a fractional CTO?

A fractional CTO is a senior technology leader who works with a business on a part-time, contracted basis rather than as a full-time employee. The role is to provide technology judgement, leadership and delivery support where the business needs it, without requiring a permanent CTO appointment. At Curavest, the fractional CTO service also includes diagnosing operational processes and improving how the business works. Technology is used only where it supports the required change.

What does a fractional CTO do for a small or medium-sized business?

A fractional CTO helps an owner or board understand where technology and operational processes are limiting the business. The work can include process diagnosis, technology strategy, systems integration, automation, reporting, AI assessment, supplier oversight and implementation. The specific work depends on the business problem. It may result in a new technical solution, but it may instead require better process ownership or a simpler way of working.

When should a business consider Curavest – Fractional CTO Services?

A business may benefit from Fractional CTO Services when it is growing, facing an operational bottleneck or making important technology decisions without sufficient internal expertise. It can be particularly suitable when the business needs senior judgement but is not yet ready to hire a full-time CTO, or when the owner needs someone to take responsibility for moving a technology or process issue forward.

Is Curavest an AI consultancy?

No. Curavest is a provider of several complementary services for operational businesses, including fractional CTO support and AI-integration products such as Sysgraft. AI is one tool that may be used to improve a process, review information, automate suitable work or identify a customer need. It is not automatically recommended, and it is not the identity of the company.

Do you sell software?

Curavest does not sell software as the default solution. Software, automation or AI may be recommended when they solve a clearly identified problem. If the real issue is process design, ownership or communication, the recommendation will address that instead.

What types of businesses does Curavest work with?

Curavest is designed for UK operational businesses, particularly those with approximately £5m–£10m turnover. Relevant sectors include manufacturing, construction supply, fire safety, tool and fixings supply, and outsourced product development. The approach can also apply to other businesses where work moves through complex operational processes and growth is being limited by a constraint.

How does a Curavest engagement begin?

An engagement begins with a conversation about the business problem. The discussion focuses on what is happening, where the pressure is appearing and what the business needs to improve. If there is a potential fit, the next step is to understand the relevant process in more detail and agree the appropriate scope of work, whether through the fractional CTO service or another Curavest offering.

How long does a fractional CTO engagement last?

Curavest works on a contracted, part-time basis. Engagements are designed to provide enough time to understand the problem, implement a practical change and prove that it works. The appropriate duration depends on the complexity of the problem and the amount of change required. This is discussed directly rather than presented as a fixed website package.

Will you replace our existing systems?

Not necessarily. An existing system may be adequate even when the process around it is not. Curavest first investigates how the system is being used, where information is lost and what the business is trying to achieve. Replacement is considered only when it is justified by the operational need.

How do you measure success?

Success is measured against the business problem. Depending on the engagement, this may include faster turnaround, increased production, reduced rework, improved quality, more reliable delivery, greater capacity, clearer reporting or revenue from a new service. The important point is that the change should produce a visible improvement in how the business operates.

How do Curavest services relate to Sysgraft?

Sysgraft is an AI-integration product for wholesale and distribution businesses, built by Curavest. It is one of several Curavest offerings focused on operational improvement and practical technology use. Depending on your situation, we may recommend Sysgraft, the fractional CTO service, another Curavest service or a combination.
