Margin Leak Review · free

Find out where your margin is going, in an hour

Bring a sample of your own rework or remedial records. We'll read it with you and show you where the money is going after the job is won.

Free. About an hour. You keep the findings. No obligation, and no software to buy.

What to bring

  • A sample of your rework, remedial, return-visit or credit-note records. A spreadsheet export is fine; messy is fine.
  • Or one recent job that went badly, with whatever paperwork it left behind.
  • Someone who knows how the work actually flows from quote to site.

What happens in the hour

  1. We read the sample with you and sort it by cause, not by department.
  2. For each group, we ask why it happened and why nothing caught it.
  3. We show you where the money is going, and which few causes are worth looking at first.

It's for you if

  • You turn over roughly £3m–£20m and win work by quote, then specify, buy in, deliver and install it.
  • Margin is slipping on jobs you priced correctly, or return visits and remakes are rising.
  • You suspect the rework number is bigger than anyone has written down.

What you walk away with

A one-page summary of your sample, sorted by cause, with a rough pound figure for each family and the few causes worth looking at first. This is the format, with illustrative figures:

Illustrative example only. Not a client's results.
Family of problem Where it usually starts In the sample (12 months) Rough cost each Rough cost a year
Remakes after site survey Measured before the fixed points were in 9 £2,600 £23,400
Return visits for missing items Delivery not checked against the order 38 £420 £15,960
Supplier specials wrong Special described differently on order and drawing 14 £650 £9,100
Client changes absorbed No release point; changes made on a verbal yes 22 £300 £6,600
Rough total from one sample £55,060

Look at first, in this example: a survey hold point before anything is made, and one specification record carried from quote to purchase order.

Your figures come from your own records, costed conservatively with you. You keep the summary either way.

Optional, but useful if you'd prefer to talk it through.
