Euan Pallister

Euan has spent 25 years inside operational businesses: as a production manager leading a finishing team; in the technical specification of access equipment and spark-free tools for intrinsically safe areas; specifying and auditing passive and active fire protection at Hentland (now part of Marlowe plc); and in specialist ironmongery and door hardware at BLU Performance Hardware and Coastal Group, where he also ran the assembly team.

That is why he starts on the floor and not in the boardroom. He knows how a handing error, a wrong fixing or a missing part travels from order to site.

Karl Pallister

Consultant, Quality Systems & Product Safety

Karl spent nearly 20 years at a UK speciality chemicals manufacturer, starting on the production lines before moving into the QC lab and then quality management, where he built the company's quality and data systems and led its first digitisation project.

As Head of Quality Management at Sapphire Balconies, he launched a new quality programme by measuring the cost of poor quality first, identifying around £1m a year, and built the quality, environment, safety and health team as production grew 30% a year, with SOPs, audits and training.

He now works on building-safety compliance for high-rise construction products. Karl starts from first principles and root cause, not a compliance checklist.

Alexandre (Alex) Beltrão

Consultant, Regulation, Standards & ISO 9001

Alex is a civil engineer and certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor. At CEN-CENELEC he coordinated European construction standards across more than 70 technical committees, then led the Digital Production team and redesigned the standards development process.

As Regulation and Standards Manager at Tata Steel Europe he coordinated 30 experts across standards committees, advised on the Construction Products Regulation, the Pressure Equipment Directive and their UK equivalents, and chaired the European advisory group 'Strategy for the Construction Sector'.

Most recently, as Director of Compliance at the Lifting Equipment Engineers Association, he led a technical team of nine with policy, research and audit responsibility for 1,200 members worldwide. He holds an MBA from The Open University and an MEng in Civil Engineering.
